How do I join two helical racks?
Butt the racks together and use a short joining rack (or a pinion) across the joint to set the tooth pitch, then clamp and fix both sections. Check the pitch across the joint with the joining piece before tightening, so the pinion runs over the joint without a bump.
What module rack and pinion do I need?
Module depends on axis load, acceleration and gantry weight. Light routers usually run module 1.25 or 1.5; heavier gantries and stone routers use module 2 or more. Send the gantry weight, acceleration and motor size and we will suggest the module and pinion.
