Raytools cutting head options and lenses
A Raytools cutting head is the most common head on Indian 1 to 3 kW fiber machines. Inside, a collimating lens and a laser focus lens shape the beam, and a laser protective lens (cover glass) shields the optics from spatter; the cover glass is the part you replace most. The BM111 adjusts focus automatically. If your machine has a WSX cutting head, send the model and we will advise on a Raytools replacement or matching spares. How do I set focus on a fiber laser cutting head?
Set focus relative to the sheet surface for the material: near the surface or slightly above for thin mild steel with oxygen, and below the surface for stainless and aluminium with nitrogen. On a manual head turn the focus ring; on an auto-focus head like the Raytools BM111, set the focus value in the controller's cutting table, then test-cut and adjust.
How often should laser nozzles and lenses be replaced?
Replace the nozzle when its bore is damaged, out of round or spattered, often weekly in heavy use. Replace the protective lens when it shows burns or spots that cleaning cannot remove. Focus and collimating lenses last much longer if the cover glass is changed on time. Inspect the cover glass daily.
