How long does a CO2 laser tube last?
Glass CO2 laser tubes are typically rated from about 1,500 to 10,000 working hours, depending on brand, power and how hard they are driven. Running below about 80 percent of maximum current, keeping cooling water cool and clean, and avoiding frequent full-power firing all extend tube life.
How do I align CO2 laser mirrors?
Align one mirror at a time, starting at the tube. Put masking tape on mirror 1, pulse the laser at low power and adjust the tube so the spot is centred; repeat at mirror 2 with the gantry near and far, then mirror 3 at all four corners of the bed. The spot must land in the same place at every position.
When should I replace a CO2 laser lens or mirror?
Clean the CO2 laser lens and CO2 laser mirror regularly with lens tissue and alcohol. Replace them when coatings are burnt, pitted or cloudy, or when cutting power drops even after alignment and cleaning. A damaged lens can crack under the beam.
